The Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) has announced plans for a new metro corridor connecting Shastri Park and Mayur Vihar Phase III in East Delhi. This corridor, part of the Phase V (B) expansion plan, will cover 13.197 km and include eight stations, significantly improving connectivity in a region heavily reliant on road transport. The route will feature both underground and elevated sections, with approximately 8.99 km underground and 4.207 km elevated. Key neighborhoods such as Geeta Colony, Gandhi Nagar Market, and Patparganj will benefit from this new line, which aims to ease congestion and reduce reliance on bus and auto services. Additionally, three interchange stations will connect the new line with existing metro lines, enhancing travel for daily commuters. The complete Phase V expansion is expected to cover nearly 200 km, with the broader goal of extending metro services deeper into the National Capital Region (NCR). While four of the seven new corridors are prioritized for completion by 2029, the status of the Shastri Park-Mayur Vihar corridor remains to be confirmed.
