The Government of India has recognized more than 55,200 startups in Financial Year 2025-26, reflecting a remarkable 51.6% increase year-on-year, the highest since the inception of the Startup India initiative on January 16, 2016. This initiative aims to foster innovation and support startups through various schemes and incentives. Since its launch, the total number of recognized startups has surpassed 2.23 lakh, generating over 23.36 lakh direct jobs. Notably, more than 1.07 lakh of these startups feature at least one woman director or partner, representing approximately 48% of the total. Additionally, the direct jobs created by these startups have increased by 36.1% compared to the previous fiscal year.
