On Saturday, three workers tragically lost their lives due to suspected toxic gas inhalation while cleaning a drainage tank at the Wada Agro Mushroom Company in Belesar village, Purandar taluka, Pune district, India. The victims, identified as Pintu Rajesh Prasa (23), Vyas Oham Kumar (22), and Gautam Ramsuran Kushwah (36), all hailed from Deoria district in Uttar Pradesh. The incident unfolded around 4:30 PM when one worker entered the tank but failed to return. Concerned, two other workers followed him inside, but none emerged. Local workers and residents quickly responded, using a JCB machine to break the concrete slab covering the tank. Unfortunately, the three were pronounced dead upon arrival at Jejuri Rural Hospital. Initial investigations indicate that the workers may have suffocated from toxic gas accumulation, likely exacerbated by heat and inadequate ventilation. Jejuri police have registered a case of accidental death and are conducting further inquiries to ascertain the cause and adherence to safety protocols at the facility.
