Beginning in July 2026, transferring between terminals at Delhi's Indira Gandhi International Airport will be streamlined with the introduction of dedicated airside buses. Currently, passengers must exit the secure area and navigate city traffic, which can take over an hour. The new service will allow transfers between Terminal 1 (T1) and Terminal 3 (T3), as well as T1 and Terminal 2 (T2), in about 20 minutes. This change is part of a broader strategy to enhance the airport's functionality as an international hub, similar to major global airports like those in Dubai and Singapore. The initiative will particularly benefit families, senior citizens, and business travelers by reducing the stress of tight connections and the need to clear security multiple times. The Bureau of Civil Aviation Security is currently finalizing safety protocols, with the new system expected to improve overall passenger experience and international connectivity at the airport.
