The Election Commission of India has approved the creation of 4,660 auxiliary polling stations in West Bengal to improve voter access and convenience for the upcoming assembly elections. This decision brings the total number of polling stations in the state to 85,379. Additionally, the commission has authorized the relocation of 321 polling stations to further facilitate the voting process. The auxiliary stations will be established alongside existing booths that have more than 1,200 voters. In a letter dated April 3, the Election Commission communicated its approval of the proposal submitted on March 28, emphasizing adherence to existing guidelines.
