Bharat Petroleum Corporation Limited (BPCL) has uncovered a significant fraud scheme involving ₹129.55 crore over several years, with 1,093 individuals implicated nationwide. In particular, seven individuals from Indore district, Madhya Pradesh are accused of defrauding BPCL of approximately ₹5.72 crore. The fraudulent activities were revealed after a BPCL official reported discrepancies in their digital payment system on March 31. The investigation indicates that these individuals exploited fleet cards issued by BPCL, which were intended for transporters and customers, to procure fuel without payment being processed. Despite notices from BPCL, the accused failed to settle their dues. A case has been registered against them under sections 420 and 34 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) at Kshipra police station, and investigations are ongoing. The individuals involved include Vishal Singh, Shashi Singh, Dalwar Singh, Baljindar Singh, Vahid Khan, Narendra Singh Basu, and Balveer Singh.
