Since the onset of the West Asia conflict on February 28, nearly 1,800 Indian nationals have successfully evacuated Iran via Armenia and Azerbaijan, as Iranian airspace remains closed due to military actions. The Indian embassy has facilitated the movement of 1,777 citizens, including students and fishermen, back to India. Meanwhile, two Indian-flagged carriers, Green Sanvi and Green Asha, laden with a total of 62,000 metric tonnes of LPG, have safely navigated the Strait of Hormuz and are expected to reach Indian ports by April 7 and April 9, respectively. Additionally, 16 Indian-flagged vessels with 433 crew members are currently waiting to transit the Strait, which is critical for oil imports. The Indian government is coordinating with Iran to ensure the safe passage of these vessels. So far, eight Indian vessels have been allowed to transit the Strait, escorted by Indian warships. The shipping ministry has also reported the repatriation of 1,599 seafarers, with efforts ongoing to assist those still in the region.
