In a significant crackdown, police in West Delhi apprehended two individuals, Sourabh and Shahnawaz, aged 28, for operating a fraudulent call centre named 'RD Services' that sold fake roadside assistance policies. The operation was based in Ranjit Nagar and involved ten tele-callers who contacted potential customers, offering immediate assistance for vehicle-related emergencies across India. Customers were charged between ₹3,000 and ₹4,000 for these policies, which were delivered via cash on delivery. However, once the payment was made, the customers received no assistance as their calls were ignored. The police registered a case of cheating and forgery under sections 318 and 336 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and seized various items, including a computer system, fake policy cards, and customer data sheets, from the premises. The operation had been active for approximately six months before the police intervention.
