Rutgers University women’s basketball team has announced the addition of Jaylah Lampley, a former guard from Mississippi State University, through the transfer portal. Lampley, who stands at 6-foot-1, played in 30 games during her freshman season, starting 6 and averaging 8.3 points and 4.7 rebounds per game while shooting 50% from the field. Notably, she scored in double digits 10 times and earned SEC freshman of the week honors for a standout performance against Samford. Hailing from Lawrence Central High School in Indianapolis, Lampley was the all-time leader in points, rebounds, and steals for her program and was named the Indiana Gatorade Player of the Year as a junior. She had previously considered Rutgers before committing to Mississippi State, making her transfer a significant addition for the Scarlet Knights as she brings three years of eligibility.
