On Saturday, Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis inaugurated the 'Jyoti–Savitri Zilla Parishad School' in Khanwadi, Purandar taluka, the birthplace of Mahatma Jyotiba Phule, to kick off celebrations for Phule's bicentenary. Fadnavis stated that the 33% reservation for women in the Lok Sabha and state assemblies, announced by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, embodies Phule's vision for women's empowerment and education. The newly established school, the first of its kind in Maharashtra's Zilla Parishad system, aims to provide modern education from junior KG to Class 12, enabling rural students to aspire to prestigious institutions like ISRO and NASA. Fadnavis also announced the establishment of 1,000 skill development centers in Phule's name and emphasized the importance of initiatives like 'Industry 4.0' that enhance educational facilities. He acknowledged Phule's contributions to social reform and public works, noting that various schemes reflect his enduring legacy. The school, built on 12 acres, will offer free education and includes plans for a hostel for 280 students. The event was attended by several dignitaries, including ministers and local representatives.
