In light of ongoing tensions in West Asia, particularly around the Strait of Hormuz, the Government of India is focused on ensuring a steady supply of petroleum products and liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) across the country. The Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas has emphasized the importance of avoiding panic buying among citizens. They are encouraged to rely on official sources for accurate information and to utilize digital platforms for booking LPG cylinders, minimizing unnecessary visits to distributors. The government has implemented rationalization measures, including enhancing refinery production and adjusting the booking intervals for LPG from 21 to 25 days in urban areas and up to 45 days in rural regions. High-priority sectors such as hospitals and educational institutions will continue to receive essential supplies. Citizens are also encouraged to conserve energy and consider alternate fuels like piped natural gas (PNG) and electric cooktops where feasible.
