Amritpal Singh Mehron, a Sikh hardliner and the main suspect in the murder of digital content creator Kanchan Kumari (alias Kamal Kaur Bhabhi), has had three of his mobile phones sent for forensic analysis by the Bathinda police. The investigation team, led by Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Sarvjeet Singh Brar, is also attempting to locate two phones belonging to the victim. Mehron was deported from the United Arab Emirates (UAE) and arrested at the Indira Gandhi International Airport in Delhi on April 10. He had fled abroad after allegedly strangling Kumari in June last year, reportedly due to her “immoral and vulgar social media content.” Investigators noted that Mehron had a valid travel visa for the UAE and had boarded a flight from Amritsar. The UAE authorities confiscated his phones before handing them over to Indian officials. The police are examining the devices for any data that could link Mehron to the crime, as well as the involvement of his aides.
