The Delhi-Dehradun Expressway, also known as the Delhi-Dehradun Economic Corridor, was inaugurated today by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. This ₹11,868.6 crore (approximately $1.43 billion USD) infrastructure project will significantly reduce travel time between Delhi and Dehradun from over six hours to just 2.5 hours. The expressway, which passes through Delhi, Uttar Pradesh, and Uttarakhand, features a 12-km elevated wildlife corridor to ensure safe animal movement, including six animal underpasses and two elephant underpasses. The project was launched in February 2021, with its foundation stone laid by Union Minister Nitin Gadkari, and aims to enhance connectivity with major expressways like the Delhi–Mumbai Expressway. It includes over 100 underpasses and five railway overbridges, ensuring seamless travel and improved traffic management through an Advanced Traffic Management System (ATMS).
