The Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority (MMRDA) will inaugurate the first stretch of Metro Line 9, phase 1 of the Dahisar–Mira Bhayandar corridor, on April 7, 2023. This project, initially announced in 2016, has faced numerous delays due to political scheduling, land acquisition issues, and contractor challenges. The 4.5 to 5 km elevated corridor will connect Dahisar (East) to Kashigaon in Mira Road, featuring four operational stations: Dahisar, Pandurangwadi, Miragaon, and Kashigaon. This new line is expected to relieve congestion on the Western Express Highway and enhance connectivity to existing metro lines. MMRDA officials anticipate an increase in ridership by 50,000-100,000 passengers daily, providing an alternative to overcrowded suburban train services. However, ongoing roadwork near the Dahisar check naka may complicate access for pedestrians. The entire Metro Line 9 project spans 13.58 km and aims to improve travel efficiency in the region.
