In an effort to bolster postsecondary support, several New York City high schools, including High School for Energy and Technology and Gregorio Luperon High School, have partnered with OneGoal, a national nonprofit focused on transforming college and career advising. Currently, OneGoal serves nearly 2,500 students across 18 schools in The Bronx, Brooklyn, Manhattan, and Queens. The organization reports that students who receive its advising are twice as likely to earn a college degree or professional credential compared to their peers. OneGoal's approach integrates structured advising into the school day, helping students explore career pathways, build financial literacy, and set post-graduation goals. Dr. Alaina Harper, OneGoal's Executive Director in New York, emphasized the importance of providing every student with dedicated time and support for postsecondary planning. The initiative also seeks to deepen its impact through existing partnerships, such as with Bushwick Leaders' High School, which aims to create a comprehensive ecosystem for college readiness. Looking ahead, OneGoal plans to open five new partnership opportunities for the 2026/27 school year, furthering its commitment to equipping students with the necessary skills for success.
