On Monday night, a series of burglaries shook Thomur village in Tiruvallur district, India, as unidentified thieves broke into locked homes while the residents were at a temple. The burglars managed to steal approximately 83 sovereigns of gold jewellery, 6 kg of silver articles, and nearly ₹3 lakh (roughly $3,600 USD) in cash. Notable thefts included 27 sovereigns of gold and cash from Shanmugam's residence, and 7 sovereigns of gold along with silver and cash from milk vendor Ezhumalai's house. The burglars also attempted to loot another daily wage worker's home but found no valuables. The affected residents have filed complaints with the Kanakamma Chatram police, who are currently investigating the case using fingerprint experts and sniffer dogs.
