On April 9, an attempted jewellery heist occurred at a shop in Madharpakkam, near Gummidipoondi, Tamil Nadu. A group of five men, some disguised in burqas, attempted to rob the shop owned by Ramesh, who bravely confronted the robber armed with a gun. The gang fled when their plan failed. Initially, police had no leads, but a review of past robbery cases led them to a mobile number linked to a suspect from a two-year-old case. This number was active near the crime scene, prompting further investigation. Police tracked the number to Urapakkam, where the gang was staying in a rented house. Following precise intelligence, police raided the location and arrested five suspects: Ashok Kumar, Jagadeesh, Saravankumar, Ramesh Kumar, and Bajanlal, all from Rajasthan. Another suspect, Sriram, is currently absconding. Authorities are investigating potential connections to other crimes across Tamil Nadu.
