Odisha police are seeking government approval to take action against Aradhana Das, an Indian Administrative Service (IAS) officer in the Home department, over an alleged cheating case involving ₹95 lakh (approximately $115,000 USD) in a land deal in Cuttack. The complaint was filed by Beena Bhawsinka, a woman with a disability, whose husband claimed that Das promised to sell them a 2,400 square feet residential plot in the Cuttack Development Authority (CDA) area. The agreement, executed on November 22, 2022, stipulated that Das would transfer leasehold rights for a total of ₹95 lakh, which was paid in full, including ₹85 lakh via Real-Time Gross Settlement (RTGS) and ₹10 lakh in cash. However, Das allegedly failed to execute the necessary documentation and threatened the complainant when pressed for the return of funds. A police report confirmed that ₹95 lakh was transferred to Das's account, and she has not cooperated with the investigation. The police have formally requested clearance from the state’s general administration department to proceed with action against the officer.
