The Delhi Police Special Cell has arrested 22-year-old Sheikh Imran from Bhubaneswar, Odisha, over suspected links to terrorist organizations. Imran was apprehended in the Ganga Nagar locality while the police were investigating several individuals in Delhi for disseminating radical content on social media platforms like Instagram and Facebook. The investigation, which included interrogating suspects and analyzing digital communications, traced back to Odisha. Police allege that Imran became an active member of a closed online network promoting religious radicalization and maintained contact with organizations based in Pakistan during his stay in Delhi over the past two to three years. Although he relocated to Bhubaneswar about six to seven months ago, authorities have yet to establish a direct link between him and any specific terror incident. Following his arrest, Imran was presented before the SDJM Court in Bhubaneswar, which granted transit remand for his transfer to Delhi for further questioning. His father expressed surprise at the allegations, stating that Imran had struggled academically and worked low-paying jobs.
