Rumi Bhinder, the manager of Rajasthan Royals, is facing scrutiny from the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) after using a mobile phone in the dugout during an IPL 2026 match against Royal Challengers Bengaluru in Guwahati. Bhinder reportedly carried the phone due to significant health issues, including a past medical emergency where both of his lungs collapsed, requiring him to be on a ventilator for nearly a week. According to sources, he lost over 10 kilos due to his health concerns and suffers from asthma, which limits his mobility. BCCI's regulations stipulate that mobile phones are only permitted in the dressing room for certain officials, and players must submit their devices upon arrival at the stadium. While Bhinder acknowledges the rules, he claims that the phone was only used for scrolling and not for making calls. Supporters of Bhinder are hopeful that the ACSU will take his medical conditions into account during their investigation.
