Puducherry is preparing for its Legislative Assembly elections scheduled for April 9, 2026. Voting will be conducted across 30 constituencies in a single phase, with polling booths open from 7:00 AM to 6:00 PM. The Election Commission of India has mandated a prohibition on exit polls during this time. The total registered electorate in Puducherry is 9,44,211, comprising 4,43,595 male voters, 5,00,477 female voters, and 139 third-gender voters. Voters can easily find their polling booths through the Election Commission’s official portal by entering their EPIC number or personal details. While the Electors Photo Identity Card (EPIC) is the primary identification document required at polling stations, voters may also use one of 12 alternative photo identity documents if they do not possess their EPIC. After casting their votes using the Electronic Voting Machine (EVM), voters will receive a printed slip from the Voter Verifiable Paper Audit Trail (VVPAT) machine to confirm their selection. Special arrangements will be made at polling booths to assist senior citizens and persons with disabilities.
