Bangladesh Foreign Minister Khalilur Rahman has begun a significant visit to India, aiming to stabilize and deepen bilateral relations that have faced strains recently. Accompanied by advisor Humayun Kabir, Rahman is set to engage in high-level meetings with Indian officials, including External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar and Petroleum Minister Hardeep Singh Puri. The discussions will primarily focus on enhancing energy cooperation, particularly the existing energy supply agreement under which Dhaka imports diesel from India. Additionally, the visit will address the revival of several stalled infrastructure projects, particularly in railways and roadways, which had seen delays during Bangladesh's interim government phase. This visit is viewed as a crucial step towards normalizing ties and restoring momentum in India-Bangladesh relations, with both nations eager to rebuild trust and collaboration across essential sectors.
