The National Capital Region Transport Corporation (NCRTC) has officially commenced construction on the 136-km Delhi-Panipat-Karnal Namo Bharat corridor, which is part of the Regional Rapid Transit System (RRTS). This corridor will connect Sarai Kale Khan in Delhi to Karnal’s New ISBT in Haryana, covering key urban and industrial areas. The project includes 17 stations—six in Delhi and 11 in Haryana—and aims to facilitate faster travel for commuters. Initial groundwork includes utility surveys and the relocation of civil utility services, which is expected to be completed within 12 months. Once operational, Namo Bharat trains are projected to run at speeds of up to 160 km/h, allowing for travel times such as 90 minutes from Delhi to Karnal and under an hour from Kashmiri Gate to Panipat. This corridor represents the third RRTS line under development by NCRTC, following the Delhi-Ghaziabad-Meerut and Delhi-Gurugram-SNB corridors.
