On Friday, India's Defence Minister Rajnath Singh commissioned two significant vessels for the Indian Navy in Visakhapatnam, Andhra Pradesh, India: the INS Aridhaman, a nuclear-powered ballistic missile submarine, and the INS Taragiri, a stealth frigate. The INS Aridhaman, part of the Arihant class, is India's third nuclear submarine and enhances the country's nuclear triad, which is crucial for its No First Use nuclear policy. This submarine boasts improved missile capacity, although specific technical details remain classified. The INS Taragiri, built under Project 17A, weighs 6,670 tonnes and features over 75% indigenous content, involving more than 200 Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) in its construction. It is equipped with advanced weaponry for both combat and humanitarian missions.
