The Raj Bhavan constituency in Puducherry is emerging as a critical battleground in the upcoming Assembly elections on April 9, 2026. This constituency, known for its political significance, is witnessing a multi-cornered contest among candidates from various parties, including the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), represented by V P Ramalingam, and the Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK), represented by Vignesh Kannan. The Congress party's R Kumaran also joins the race as part of the Secular Progressive Alliance (SPA). Local issues such as traffic congestion, ageing drainage infrastructure, and rising energy costs are dominating the campaign.
