The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) has announced that the completion of its road concretisation project in Mumbai has been extended to May 2027 due to persistent delays. Initially expected to finish by 2025, the deadline was pushed to 2026 before the latest revision. In a review meeting, municipal commissioner Ashwini Bhide instructed officials to complete Phase 1 by December 12, 2026, and Phase 2 by May 2027 without further extensions. The project aims to transform Mumbai's roads into a durable, pothole-free network, improving traffic flow and safety. Currently, 488.24 km of roads, or nearly 71% of the total targeted stretch, have been completed, with work on the remaining 389 roads covering 102.04 km set to begin soon. To enhance transparency, the BMC has launched a real-time dashboard that provides citizens with detailed updates on road works, including project status and contractor information, allowing for direct communication and feedback.
