As the panchayati raj institutions (PRI) elections approach in Himachal Pradesh, district administrations in Shimla, Kangra, and Sirmaur have started issuing reservation rosters for local bodies such as nagar panchayats and zila parishads. In Shimla district, Deputy Commissioner Anupam Kashyap announced the reservation roster for 25 zila parishad wards, with 13 wards reserved for women. The total number of wards has increased to 25 following the creation of a new ward, Kwar. The roster also indicates a reduction in the number of panchayats from 446 to 441, following a court order that annulled five panchayat formations. In Sirmaur, Deputy Commissioner Priyanka Verma has issued the reservation roster for gram panchayat pradhans across eight development blocks. Meanwhile, Kangra district has declared reservations for 846 gram panchayat pradhan posts, with 423 of these reserved for women. Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu announced that the PRI elections will be held before May 31.
