The Puratchi Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (Puratchi ADMK), a newly formed political party in Tamil Nadu, has filed a complaint against Edappadi K. Palaniswami, the General Secretary of the All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (AIADMK), regarding the denial of campaign permissions ahead of the upcoming Tamil Nadu Assembly elections. Puratchi ADMK Founder President Pugalenthi stated that the complaint was filed under the Act of 1954, expressing concerns that Palaniswami's campaign could incite riots due to potential clashes with the Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK). The party has urged the Election Commission of India (ECI) to deny him permission to campaign. Should the ECI take no action, Puratchi ADMK plans to escalate the matter to the High Court, armed with evidence of speeches and submissions made to the ECI. The Tamil Nadu Assembly elections are scheduled for April 23, with results to be announced on May 4. The main contest is expected to be between the DMK-led Secular Progressive Alliance and the AIADMK-led National Democratic Alliance, with the possibility of a three-cornered contest including actor Vijay's party, TVK.
