The Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) is establishing a dedicated, high-speed communication link with the European Space Operations Centre (ESCO) in Darmstadt, Germany, as part of its Gaganyaan human spaceflight mission. This initiative aims to create a robust communication network to support future human space missions, including a planned manned mission to the Moon. The connection will consist of two major nodes: Node A at the Satish Dhawan Space Centre in India and Node B at ESCO in Germany. Utilizing optical fiber technology, the link will ensure fast, secure, and reliable data transmission, which is crucial for monitoring spacecraft and ensuring astronaut safety. Additionally, ISRO will implement a private managed MPLS (Multiprotocol Label Switching) Layer 3 network to enhance security and performance. This setup is designed to enable real-time transfer of mission-critical data, including telemetry and tracking information, highlighting ISRO's commitment to advancing its human spaceflight program through international collaboration and cutting-edge technology.
