Volkswagen India has officially started production of the new Taigun model at its manufacturing facility in Pune, India. This move is part of the company's strategy to enhance its SUV portfolio, with over 143,000 units of the Taigun produced to date, of which 30% have been exported to various global markets. Piyush Arora, Managing Director & CEO, emphasized that this production marks the maturity of Volkswagen's manufacturing ecosystem in India, capable of delivering vehicles that meet global quality standards. The Taigun is engineered to align with Volkswagen’s international benchmarks, focusing on efficiency, quality, and safety. Nitin Kohli, Brand Director at Volkswagen India, noted that the Taigun has been crucial in strengthening the brand's SUV strategy and meeting the aspirations of Indian consumers. The Pune-based Škoda Auto Volkswagen India Private Limited oversees operations for six brands, including Audi and Porsche, and operates two plants with a combined annual capacity of 315,000 units. The company has shipped over 700,000 vehicles to more than 40 countries.
