A recent survey conducted by the Dwarka Expressway Gurugram Development Associations (DXPGDA) has found that more than 1.34 lakh households in Gurgaon, Haryana, India, do not have Piped Natural Gas (PNG) connections. The survey, which spanned over 10 days and included more than 100 residential societies, highlighted areas such as Sector 57, DLF Phase 2, and South City 1. Despite the city's rapid urbanization, many large residential complexes, some with between 4,000 and 13,000 units, remain unconnected to PNG, leading to a continued reliance on liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) cylinders. This situation has been exacerbated by a recent government order mandating households to switch to PNG where infrastructure exists, amidst a shortage of LPG due to geopolitical tensions in the Middle East. The DXPGDA has formally requested the Petroleum and Natural Gas Regulatory Board (PNGRB) to expedite the rollout of PNG infrastructure and establish a transparent grievance redressal system. Haryana City Gas (HCG), the supplier of PNG in the region, has stated that they aim to install at least 25,000 new household connections this quarter and are working to address the existing backlog.
