This blockade is expected to test the economic endurance of the US-Iranian conflict, as it affects shipping through the strategically vital Strait of Hormuz, where 20% of the global oil supply passes. President Donald Trump has stated that the blockade will apply to all vessels entering or leaving Iranian ports, while asserting that the US will not allow Iran to develop nuclear weapons. Amid these developments, there are reports of ongoing US-Iran talks aimed at reaching an agreement.
