In response to significant protests in Noida Phase 2, the Uttar Pradesh government has approved an interim wage increase of approximately 21% for workers in Gautam Buddha Nagar and Ghaziabad, effective from April 1. The revised monthly wages will see unskilled workers earning ₹13,690, semi-skilled workers ₹15,059, and skilled workers ₹16,868. However, protests persist as workers demand additional improvements beyond the wage hike. The government has deployed police to maintain order following violent demonstrations. Amid growing public attention, officials have also addressed misinformation regarding wage figures circulating on social media. Additionally, the government is engaging in discussions about establishing a national minimum 'floor wage' under new Labour Codes, indicating a broader commitment to addressing workers' needs while balancing industry pressures. Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath emphasized the importance of ensuring workers receive their rightful wages and protections, including the dignity and safety of women workers.
