Maharashtra has formally requested the central government to increase the supply of 5 kg LPG cylinders for migrant laborers by 25%. Chandrakant Dange, the state's Controller of Rationing, highlighted a recent surge of 73,000 new pipeline gas connections in the last month, indicating a growing demand for LPG. Currently, the state delivers approximately 27,000 5 kg cylinders daily. Dange assured that the state's distribution network, supported by 23 LPG plants, continues to function smoothly, catering to around 3.5 crore consumers. Additionally, the state has established a buffer stock of fertilizers to prepare for the upcoming Kharif season, ensuring adequate supply amidst potential demand surges. Officials confirmed that there are no shortages of petrol, diesel, or domestic LPG, maintaining a stable supply chain.
