According to a Worldline report, the number of Unified Payments Interface (UPI) Quick Response (QR) codes in India surged by 15% in 2025, reaching 731.38 million from 633.44 million in 2024. This growth reflects the increasing adoption of digital payments among merchants, contributing to the overall expansion of the UPI ecosystem. Concurrently, the volume of UPI transactions soared by 33%, totaling 228.5 billion in 2025, compared to 172.2 billion in the previous year. In contrast, point-of-sale (POS) terminals also experienced a 15% increase, rising to 11.48 million from 10 million. The average ticket size for UPI transactions in 2025 was recorded at ₹1,314, a decline from ₹1,437 in 2024. In comparison, the average transaction sizes for credit and debit cards were significantly higher at ₹4,150 and ₹3,360, respectively.
