The bifurcation of Mangalore University in Karnataka, India, to form Kodagu University has led to an administrative deadlock regarding the status of permanent faculty members. Since the academic year 2025–26, Kodagu University has operated independently, yet many faculty members from Mangalore University continue to serve at Field Marshal KM Cariappa College and the PG Centre in Chikka Aluvara. These faculty members, who were recruited by Mangalore University, are urging the state government to facilitate their transfer back to their parent institution. Principal Major Raghava B of Field Marshal KM Cariappa College reported that despite requests for transfers, there has been no response. The ongoing issue has implications for retirement benefits, as many faculty members are under the old pension scheme, while Kodagu University adopts the National Pension System (NPS). Additionally, the lack of sufficient guest faculty at the new university has increased the workload for permanent staff, compounding the challenges they face.
