The Department of Telecommunications (DoT) has extended the deadline for Vodafone Idea's reassessment of adjusted gross revenue (AGR) dues by three months, now set for June 30. This decision follows a Supreme Court of India ruling that permits the government to recalculate the company's AGR liabilities for the fiscal years 2007 to 2019. The original deadline was February 22, with the reassessment process expected to be completed by March 31. However, progress has been hindered due to operational challenges, particularly gaps in documentation that have delayed the verification of necessary legacy records. Currently, the government holds a 49% stake in Vodafone Idea after converting approximately ₹53,083 crore (roughly $6.4 billion USD) of dues into equity in early 2023. The company has outlined a repayment plan to pay up to ₹124 crore (about $15 million USD) annually over the next six years for its AGR dues. Additionally, a partial moratorium on Vodafone Idea's dues was approved, freezing payments of around $9.76 billion USD and postponing significant repayments into the 2030s.
