The Uttar Pradesh Secondary Education Board has launched a campaign to address the issue of unauthorized schools and irregular private coaching across the state. In a directive issued on April 5, officials including district inspectors of schools (DIOS), Basic Shiksha Adhikaris (BSAs), and block education officers (BEOs) are tasked with identifying institutions operating without formal recognition and teachers involved in private coaching against regulations. This initiative follows reports indicating that some schools are functioning without the necessary approvals, violating the Right to Education (RTE) Act of 2009 and the Uttar Pradesh Coaching Regulation Act of 2002. Recognized institutions admitting students in unauthorized classes will face strict penalties. A district-level committee has been established to conduct inspections and submit reports on illegal schools by April 30. The board has warned that any delays in enforcing these directives will be treated as contempt of court.
