The Delhi government has commenced construction of a new Kendriya Vidyalaya (KV) in Khajoori Khas, northeast Delhi, following the announcement of 10 new KVs in its 2026-27 budget. The project, which has been assigned to NBCC Limited, carries an estimated cost of ₹35 lakh (approximately $42,000 USD) and is expected to be completed within two years. This new campus aims to meet the rising demand for Central government-run schools in the trans-Yamuna region, which has seen significant population growth over the last decade.
Designed in accordance with Kendriya Vidyalaya Sangathan (KVS) standards, the school will include separate blocks for primary and senior classes, well-ventilated classrooms, and dedicated laboratories for subjects like physics, chemistry, and biology. Additional facilities will encompass computer labs, a library, and activity rooms to promote co-curricular learning. The campus will also feature a multipurpose hall, sports facilities, and green spaces, ensuring accessibility and safety with boundary walls and fire safety systems.
The new KV is set to accommodate a large number of students from classes I to XII, alleviating the pressure on existing KVs in the vicinity. It will follow the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) curriculum, aligning with the standards of approximately 70 KVs currently operational in Delhi.
