During the 35th board meeting of the Delhi Urban Shelter Improvement Board (DUSIB), chaired by Chief Minister Rekha Gupta, several measures were approved to enhance the living conditions of slum dwellers and support gig workers in Delhi, India. The approved plans include the construction of resting centers and public utility hubs for gig workers, which will be equipped with Atal Canteens providing food and essential services. Additionally, urinal facilities will be established in select areas to further support these workers. Gupta emphasized the government's commitment to ensuring dignified housing and improved quality of life for vulnerable citizens. As part of the housing initiative, 717 slum dwellers from various clusters will be allotted EWS (Economically Weaker Section) flats in Savda-Ghevra, with financial assistance of ₹1.12 lakh (approximately $1,350 USD) per beneficiary from the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs. The board also approved changes to the Atal Canteen scheme, including revised meal service timings and operational improvements. Furthermore, infrastructure repairs for 1,060 EWS flats in Sultanpuri and the development of essential services for 7,400 flats in Bhalswa were also greenlit. The financial approval limit for DUSIB's CEO has been raised to ₹10 crore (approximately $1.2 million USD) to facilitate quicker project execution.
