California Congressman Eric Swalwell is embroiled in serious sexual assault allegations from multiple former staffers, which have severely impacted his campaign ahead of the all-party primary on June 2. According to a report by CNN, one former staffer alleges that Swalwell sexually assaulted her in 2024, while she also recounted an incident in 2019 where she woke up with no memory of the previous night but with physical signs of sexual contact. Swalwell has denied all allegations, stating they are false and politically motivated. As a result of the controversy, his support has plummeted to 7%, while Republican candidate Tom Steyer has seen his poll numbers soar to 56%, a jump of 30 points within a week.
