On Friday, the Ghaziabad LPG Distributors Association launched a program to distribute 5 kg LPG cylinders aimed at economically weaker sections, particularly daily wage labourers and small families, in Ghaziabad, Uttar Pradesh, India. The initiative involves 85 gas agencies, each allocated 50 cylinders, which have already begun distribution. To obtain a cylinder, individuals must visit a gas agency with their Aadhaar card and pay ₹1,500 ($18 USD), which includes a ₹900 security deposit. This program is designed to provide easier access to cooking gas for those who do not have standard-sized gas cylinder connections. Additionally, the Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas (MoPNG) has emphasized the importance of maintaining stable LPG availability for industrial use, particularly in sectors where LPG is essential for manufacturing. Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Minister Hardeep Singh Puri have highlighted the government's commitment to absorbing rising costs in the face of global price volatility, ensuring that consumers are not burdened with the full impact of these increases.
