In preparation for Prime Minister Narendra Modi's visit to Puducherry on April 2, 2026, security has been intensified throughout the town and surrounding areas. Approximately 1,500 personnel from the territorial police and Central Armed Police Forces will oversee traffic management and law enforcement during the event. Significant traffic restrictions have been established, prohibiting vehicular movement on roads designated as VVIP routes. Specifically, vehicles will be barred from the stretch between Ajantha Theatre Junction and Anna Thidal, with additional restrictions on routes leading to Lawspet Airport Road and East Coast Road. Public transport, including buses and tempos, will also be rerouted to ensure smooth traffic flow and safety during the Prime Minister's roadshow.
