The Gurugram police's cybercrime cell has arrested a 30-year-old man for allegedly spreading a misleading video on social media that falsely linked a woman's death to the ongoing workers' protests at IMT Manesar, Haryana, India. The accused, from Sahia Bazaar village in Ballia district, Uttar Pradesh, was taken into custody after routine monitoring identified the inflammatory video, which was shared on Facebook on April 10. Investigators found that the video was old and not connected to the current labor unrest. Police spokesperson Sandeep Turan stated that the dissemination of such content could incite panic and disturb public order. An FIR has been filed against the accused under various sections of the Indian Penal Code and the Information Technology Act. The accused reportedly admitted to sharing the video to incite unrest. The police are also working to identify others involved in this misleading campaign, as the situation at IMT Manesar remains tense, with 55 individuals previously arrested for violence during the protests.
