Recent investigations have uncovered that MizarVision, a Chinese geospatial AI firm, is using artificial intelligence to produce detailed satellite imagery of US military bases in the Middle East. This data is reportedly being utilized by Iranian forces to identify and target US and allied military assets, including air defense systems. The imagery is highly precise, identifying military assets within less than a square meter, which poses a direct tactical advantage to adversaries. The US Defense Intelligence Agency (DIA) has expressed concerns that these developments could endanger the lives of military personnel, particularly those from allied nations like Australia. Additionally, other Chinese companies, such as Jing’an Technology, are also involved in providing detailed intelligence products that leverage AI analysis of satellite and maritime data. In response, US authorities are urging commercial satellite providers to limit access to imagery over the conflict zone to protect operational security.
