Following a significant protest at the Phase 2 Hosiery Complex in Noida, Uttar Pradesh, where workers demanded wage increases and job security, the Gautam Budh Nagar administration convened a meeting led by district magistrate Medha Roopam. The administration has mandated that employers must respect workers' rights, including timely payment of wages by the 10th of each month and payment of overtime at double rates. Roopam emphasized that no worker should face termination without valid reasons and that any harassment related to protest participation will not be tolerated. Additionally, factories are required to set up internal committees to address sexual harassment and ensure that complaint mechanisms are in place. Workers were urged to maintain discipline and rely on official communications rather than rumors. While basic issues have been addressed, the demand for salary increases remains unresolved, with officials encouraging workers to submit their proposals for consideration by the government. The administration has warned that violations of labor rights will lead to strict legal action and regular inspections will be conducted to ensure compliance.
