The Bihar government is prioritizing the allocation of 19-kg commercial LPG cylinders for wedding functions, as stated by Abhay Kumar Singh, secretary of the food and consumer protection department. Applications must be submitted through district magistrates, and the allocation will be based on local availability, ensuring equitable distribution during the wedding season starting April 14. Despite challenges posed by the ongoing conflict in West Asia, domestic LPG deliveries are reportedly being maintained within four days of booking. Additionally, the state is addressing the needs of approximately 2,032 returning migrant workers by providing 5-kg free-trade LPG (FTL) cylinders based on Aadhaar without requiring new connections. The total cost for these cylinders is around ₹1,750 (approximately $21 USD). To enhance safety, the state plans to phase out the sale of small, locally sold cylinders and has already taken action against black marketing, with 114 FIRs filed and 1,662 LPG cylinders seized. Furthermore, the state is encouraging a shift to piped natural gas (PNG), with over 100,000 households already connected under the Bihar City Gas Distribution Policy 2025.
