Amazon has denied media reports claiming it plans to lay off 14,000 employees in May, following a previous layoff of 16,000 workers in January. The rumors began on the job forum Blind and were subsequently reported by the Chinese tech portal Lei Feng. In response, Amazon stated, "These reports are false and not based in fact." The company's CEO, Andy Jassy, had previously indicated that the integration of artificial intelligence would reduce the need for certain jobs within the company. This denial comes amid broader layoffs in the tech sector, with Oracle recently cutting around 30,000 jobs, including 12,000 in India. Other companies such as Microsoft, Tata Consultancy Services (TCS), and Accenture have also announced layoffs. Meanwhile, US jobless claims fell by 9,000 to 202,000, suggesting a stabilizing job market despite ongoing layoffs in various sectors.
