On Friday, heavy rains swept through parts of Kerala, providing much-needed relief from the heat. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) issued an 'orange alert' for Kozhikode and Wayanad districts, predicting very heavy rainfall ranging from 11 cm to 20 cm. This alert is effective for three hours starting from 7 PM. Thunderstorms accompanied by gusty winds, reaching speeds of up to 50 kilometers per hour, are expected in these districts.
