On Wednesday, Delhi experienced its coldest April day in a decade, with a maximum temperature of 28.2°C, according to the India Meteorological Department (IMD). This temperature is the lowest recorded since April 23, 2016, when it was 27.2°C. The normal maximum temperature for this period is 35.1°C, making Wednesday's temperature nearly 7°C below normal. The minimum temperature was also lower than average at 16.8°C, compared to the normal of 20°C. Experts attribute this unusual weather to western disturbances and an induced cyclonic circulation over Rajasthan, which caused widespread rain and even hailstorms in some areas. The IMD forecasts a gradual increase in temperatures over the coming week, with maximums expected to rise to between 36°C and 38°C by April 14. Additionally, the rainfall improved the city's Air Quality Index (AQI), which recorded a satisfactory level of 93, the first time in 19 days that the AQI fell into this category. However, the AQI is expected to rise to moderate levels over the next six days.
